Tote-to-Person
The Geek+ Tote-to-Person order-fulfilment solution combines double-deep vertical warehouse storage with high picking throughput, using RoboShuttle robots to retrieve totes from high-density racking and deliver them straight to ergonomic pick stations.
Key benefits
- High box-picking efficiency, up to 250 totes / hour / station
- Flexible to fit customers’ existing shelves and lofts
- Fast implementation and low ground load
- Smaller investment and shorter payback period (ROI about 1–3 years)
- No need for high-precision rails and easy to maintain
- Scalable — grow the system as your business grows
How Tote-to-Person works
Tote-to-Person combines dense vertical storage with fast, guided picking to lift throughput without expanding your footprint.
- High-density vertical storage. Totes are stored double-deep in compact racking up to around 11 metres high, making the most of your building’s cubic space.
- RoboShuttle robots retrieve on demand. Fast shuttle robots travel the racking to collect the required tote and deliver it directly to an ergonomic pick station.
- Guided picking and return. Operators pick under light and screen guidance at up to 250 totes per hour, per station; totes are returned and storage is continually re-optimised.
Applicable industries
Tote-to-Person suits a wide range of operations — E-commerce, apparel, retail, and pharmaceuticals — across varied storage and picking scenarios.
- Picking and storing items of varied sizes
- Whole-carton, pallet and piece picking
- Mixed-popularity picking and storing
- Integrates with conveyors and other robots
Frequently asked questions
What is Tote-to-Person picking?
Shuttle robots retrieve totes from high-density racking and bring them to a stationary operator, combining dense storage with high picking throughput.
How is it different to Shelf-to-Person?
Tote-to-Person stores goods in totes within tall racking for maximum density and fast retrieval, while Shelf-to-Person moves entire shelves and suits larger or more varied items.
What throughput can it achieve?
Up to around 250 totes per hour, per pick station, depending on your order profile.
Can it integrate with our existing equipment?
Yes — RoboShuttle systems connect to conveyors, other robots and wider automation, and are designed for staged, low-disruption deployment.
